EpistIQ Privacy Policy

IT Keys LLC ("we," "us," "our") operates EpistIQ (the "App"), a brain-puzzle quiz app across Philosophy, Science, Medicine, and Informatique, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. This policy explains what data the App collects, why, and how it's handled - for both platforms.

Account information. When you sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple, or email/password, we receive your email address (and, if you sign in with Google, your name). We use this solely to create and secure your account.

Profile information. New accounts get an automatically generated, neutral username (e.g. "CuriousMind4821") rather than one derived from your email. Subscribers may change their username. You may optionally select a coarse region badge (e.g. "Europe") shown on the leaderboard - this is a self-selected label, never derived from your device's precise location or IP address, and defaults to no region shown at all.

Gameplay data. Your puzzle answers, scores, badges earned, and leaderboard standing, so the App can track your progress and rank you against other players.

Purchase and subscription data. Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store), not by us directly - we never see your payment card details. Our subscription-management provider, RevenueCat, receives your subscription status (active/expired) and a device-generated identifier so the App can unlock subscriber features.

Analytics and diagnostics. We use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Performance Monitoring (all Google services) to understand feature usage and diagnose crashes. This includes device type, app version, and anonymized usage events - not your name or email.

Advertising data. Non-subscribers see ads served by Google AdMob. On iOS, before any advertising identifier is used for personalized ads, the App asks for your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. On Android, ad personalization is governed by your Google Ads Settings and the App's consent flow (UMP). If you decline personalization, you'll still see ads, just not ones personalized to you.

We do not collect your precise (GPS) location, and we do not request access to your camera, photos, contacts, or microphone - the App has no feature that needs any of them.

• To operate the App: authentication, saving your progress, showing the leaderboard, and unlocking subscriber content.
• To process subscriptions through Apple/Google and RevenueCat.
• To improve the App: crash diagnostics and aggregate usage analytics.
• To show ads to non-subscribers, and to measure ad performance.

We do not sell your personal information.

The App relies on the following service providers, each of which processes data under their own privacy policies:

• Supabase - authentication and database hosting.
• Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance, Remote Config) and Google AdMob - diagnostics, analytics, and advertising.
• RevenueCat - subscription status management.
• Apple and Google - sign-in and in-app purchase processing.

You can delete your account at any time from Account settings within the App. This permanently removes your profile, gameplay history, and badges from our database. Some records may be retained briefly in backups or where required by law. To request deletion without using the App, contact us at the address below.

EpistIQ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law, e.g. 16 in parts of the EU). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA under GDPR, the UK under UK GDPR, and California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly via the App's account deletion feature, or by contacting us below.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
